Savory Gluten-Free Meatballs

There’s something so comforting about a pan of savory gluten-free meatballs fresh from the oven. They’re hearty, flavorful, and versatile enough to anchor multiple meals throughout the week. I love to make a big batch, knowing that leftovers freeze beautifully. Sometimes I even double the recipe so I can stash extra meatballs away for future dinners—such a gift to my busy homestead kitchen.

These savory gluten-free meatballs pair well with all sorts of veggie side dishes. At my house, a favorite simple combination is gluten-free pesto pasta (GF spaghetti noodles tossed with Homemade Pesto Sauce) alongside a crisp green salad. Of course, you can serve them with traditional spaghetti, or mix and match with seasonal vegetables. (I’ll share more side dish ideas in a list below.)

Another reason I love this recipe: the meatballs are baked in the oven. So easy! And they make a wonderful potluck contribution when a hearty dish is called for.

Need tips for sourcing local, pasture-raised meats and eggs? Check out these suggestions.

  • Ground beef – Local, grass-fed beef is best if you can find it.
  • Ground pork – (Local, pasture-raised) pork adds richness and depth.
  • Minced onion – Sweet and savory notes that round out the meatballs.
  • Eggs – (Local and pasture-raised) eggs help bind the mixture together.
  • Ground almond flour – A gluten-free alternative to breadcrumbs that keeps the texture light.
  • Italian Seasoning – Adds classic flavor with herbs like oregano, basil, and thyme.  Find my recipe here.
  • Pinch of allspice – A subtle warmth that makes these meatballs extra special.
  • Unrefined sea salt – Enhances flavor and provides trace minerals.
  • Ground black pepper – Adds a subtle bite to complement the flavors.
