Gluten Free in DC

I’ve got another gluten-free restaurant recommendation for those of you who live in or near DC, or who may be traveling to the area.

Given my very pregnant state on our most recent weekend getaway, Mr. Native Texan and I wanted to stick close to home while still feeling like we were getting “away”.  So we went to Georgetown–so fun!

During our stay, we enjoyed a gluten-free dinner at Firefly.  It was wonderful–I highly recommend it!

What We Ordered

  • Seasonal Vegetable Soup
  • Salmon with Red Quinoa
  • Steak & Grits
  • Blood Orange & Chocolate Ice Cream “Sandwich”

Everything was delicious and beautifully plated.  Local meats and seasonal produce inspire Firefly’s ever-rotating menu–a big plus, in my opinion.  Check out their extensive gluten-free options here: Firefly Menu.

About the Restaurant

The staff was wonderfully accommodating and the restaurant itself had a fun and unique atmosphere, with tree trunks lining the walls and an enormous “firefly tree” in the center of the room.  Tables are made from salvaged barnwood and a rustic stone wall separates the kitchen from the dining room.

Firefly is located in Dupont Circle, at 1310 New Hampshire Avenue, NW.  Call 202-861-1310 for reservations or book a table online.

We thoroughly enjoyed our gluten-free experience at Firefly Restaurant in Washington, DC. If you’re in the area, you should check it out, too!
