I love to garden. [Check out This Year’s Garden Experiments.] Wish I had more time to devote to digging in the dirt and trying to make things grow, but here’s one thing I don’t have to spend extra time on: cleaning up my grubby hands, post-gardening.
Before, the only thing that really worked for serious dirt removal was Lava Soap. Though it worked pretty well for getting the dirt out of all the cracks and crevices of my filthy hands, there were always a few problems:
1) I never really found a satisfactory way to store the soap between uses, and
2) My hands always felt so dry after using it.
Note: I was suspicious of the ingredients in Lava Soap, but from what I can tell, I think it might actually be OK.
Want to know what I use now?
This awesome, easy DIY scrub.
-
- First, I wash my hands as usual–with soap and water.
- Then I scoop a little bit (maybe 1 tsp or less) of the scrub into my hands and scrub away.
- Sometimes I rinse and repeat with the scrub.
- The last step is to use this nifty finger nail brush to get any remaining dirt out from under my finger nails. (I found my cute little bamboo brush at Wegmans for $1.99.)
The best part about my post-gardening clean up routine is the way my hands feel: so soft and moisturized! Love it.
