Yesterday’s post on Spring Wild Flowers and today’s amazing spring weather plus a few hours spent digging outside in the dirt got me all set up to receive this newsletter in my inbox this afternoon…

Have you subscribed to Barb/Harmony Art Mom’s Handbook Of Nature Study Newsletters? You should!

She’s my favorite nature blogger, offering all kinds of wonderful nature study resources. Some of the resources are available on her blog and others are available only to subscribers.

I’d used her blog as a resource for months, maybe even years, before finally subscribing a few months ago. It was the recent Bird Study that got me. I wanted the free printables available only to subscribers. 🙂

This month (May 2013) the topic is Garden Flowers and Crops. My favorite parts of the newsletter are always the free printables–this month there is a fun Challenge Grid with 23 fairly simple activities for appreciating your flowers and/or crops. I also love the printable journal page for sketching and describing a flower (or many flowers, if you make several copies of the journal page!).

These resources are available all month long, but not after that. So head on over to Handbook of Nature Study and sign up to receive the newsletters!

Note: Generally speaking, I try to limit my subscriptions. I hate a cluttered inbox. While these newsletters do come every week or so and have at times threatened to overwhelm me (because no one person can ever hope to accomplish every activity mentioned or check out every resource provided), I have no problem simply deleting the issues that don’t interest me. The ones that do interest, I save in a dedicated folder of my yahoo mailbox. I also try to print out the journal pages and challenge grids right away, so they’ll be ready when the opportunity arises.
