Well, it’s a new month and almost a new season.
We’ve also got a birthday in a few days. [Older Brother will be 7–I can hardly believe it!]
At the Yankee Homestead, all of this adds up to: A New Book Display. Several new book displays, actually.
Don’t you just love how I assume your interest in our book displays? 🙂
You are interested, right? I thought so.

Fall Book Displays
And here are the new Monthly and Fall Displays for September…
(Just today, I realized we have enough favorite fall books to make a new display for each month: Leaves & Trees for September, Pumpkins & Halloween for October and Thanksgiving, etc. for November.)
Favorite Monthly Books
These three “year-round” books remain in our monthly book display. At the beginning of each new month, we simply turn the pages to the new month (after reading them together, of course). I highly recommend each of them!
- The Year At Maple Hill Farm
- Cracked Corn and Snow Ice Cream: A Family Almanac
- Chicken Soup with Rice: A Book of Months
By the way, if you’re interested in building useful things out of old pallets, you might like to see how we made the above shelf: And Yet Another Set of DIY Pallet Shelves.

- Coming soon: a list of more fall favorites…
So there you have it. The books have been rotated; we are officially ready. Good-bye to Summer, and to the month of August. Welcome, September and the autumnal season just around the corner.
Happy September to you!
