The holiday season is fast approaching.  Many folks love to fill their homes with “holiday scents”–cinnamon, pine, vanilla and citrus are popular aromas that evoke cozy feelings associated with Thanksgiving and Christmas.

By now you’re no doubt aware that artificial fragrance is downright dangerous, having been linked to cancer, migraines, fertility issues and the like.  For this reason, we like to steer clear of commercial room sprays, candles, plug-in scents and such.  For more on this topic, check out How and Why to Ditch Artificial Fragrances.

But don’t worry, it’s super-easy (and fun!) to create your own non-toxic (healthy, even!) room sprays and holiday scents for diffusing.

Room Spray

To make a room spray–perfect for the bathroom–add about 2 drops (about 6-8 drops total) of each of your chosen oils to a 2 oz colored glass bottle.  Fill the rest of the way with water, and insert spray top.

In the Diffuser

Put your diffuser to use during the holidays by adding 5-8 drops of your favorite combination of holiday oils.  Keep it simple with a few drops of doTERRA’s Holiday Joy Blend*, or experiment with your own holiday combinations.
