We love folk music here at the Yankee Homestead, and have amassed quite a collection of Family-Friendly Folk Favorites. Here’s another album we’ve recently added to our list:
Pete Seeger is a master storyteller and a gifted musician, with an impressive pedigree and a colorful history. He co-authored a few famous songs like “If I Had a Hammer” and “Turn, Turn, Turn” and has produced over 100 albums. His appreciation page (see below) calls him a “national treasure.” Our entire family has thoroughly enjoyed this collection of animal folk songs for children. We highly recommend it!
Incidentally, his step-mother Ruth Crawford Seeger wrote an interesting and helpful book I read recently, entitled American Folk Songs for Children.
